Apple releases iTunes 10.5.1 update

Apple has rolled out its iTunes 10.5.1 update.

The free update, which the company released this morning, includes the iTunes Match music service, a feature which debuted at Apple's developer conference back in June.

iTunes Match scans the user's library for music that was originally ripped from a CD, and provides them with a digital copy of equal quality. This function is only available to paying subscribers, who are charged $24.99 (£15.70) a year.

Match has been in beta since early August, originally scheduled to debut last month. The service is integrated with Apple's iCloud platform, using it to transfer files between devices.

Apple also added iCloud functionality to its Apple TV platform with a recent update, allowing customers to access their files without storing them locally.

iTunes 10.5.1 is available now as a free download.
